Awesome Food from Solo

As I mentioned that I am now becoming one of millions (maybe) people living in Solo, Central Java, I think I want to share stories and some infos about this city that might help other people like me. Like me, yes.. someonre real new about this city. And let's start with food.

The food I am going to tell here is not really commom. Well, it is as common as soup, but as rare as  kimchi (in this city, of course). You can find kimchi in korean restaurant here, but there are not so many korean restaurant in Solo. Just like this soup. There are only some warung that sell it.

Sup Matahari, which translated name would be sun soup, is one of a kind. IT IS AWESOME! especially when it is served hot and you are catching a cold. Unfortunately, when I took this picture, I got one with imperfect shape. Please do search "sup matahari" in google image and you'll see its better performance :D. Normally, it is not only tasty but  also beautiful. 
The main ingredient is egg, to shape the "wings" around and make it looks like sun in kid's drawings. The centre, which makes it "something", is made of mushrooms (usually black and white), carrot, chicken or saussage, and corn (sometimes), which are collaborated with perfect spices. yummm..

This is also affordable. One of the warungs I usually come to get it, Tenda Biru, sells it in only 8.000 IDR. This warung sells many other special foods from Solo  as well, like selat solo, gudeg (the food of the neighbor city), and gempol pleret.

If you visit Solo, this place is easy to find. Just about 5 minutes by taxi or gojek from Purwosari station, and you'll find yourself sitting in Warung Tenda Biru, enjoying this radiation-free sun.

As I've shared in previous article, beberapa hari yang lalu saya nyari-nyari info tentang sebuah minuman dari bunga krisan yang selama ini saya sebut ciciwaci. Herannya kok temen-temen di Malang, juga bude sekeluarga asing ya sama minuman ini. Mungkin tradisi juga apa ya, hehehe. Dari kecil memang saya sering dibuatin minuman ini ketika batuk flu atau agak nggak enak badan. Bungkus luarnya kotak isi 10 sachet dengan judul "Chrysanthemum Crystal". Harganya juga affordable, 14.000/kotak. Ni dia nih... Dari dulu juga, tiap beli di apotik ya bilang aja "mbak, ada ciciwaci?", mbak apotik pasti langsung tau. Masalahnya adalah saya nggak tahu pasti kenapa orangtua saya dulu suka ngasi minuman ini. I mean, tahu sih alesannya, tapi nggak tahu dari petunjuk langsung yang ada di bungkusnya kek, dari sang ahli kek, dokter atau apoteker mungkin. Kata Dilan, "Rindu itu berat". Aku nggak pernah sadar sampai dia mempopulerkan kalimat itu. Kurasa dia benar. Tapi beratnya rindu itu asyik. What is Good Teacher?

Being a good teacher or lecturer or tutor is not too hard but not easy either. Gampang-gampang susah in Bahasa. But above all, what is a good teacher at all? When such a question is delivered, I am pretty sure that there will be various answers. As for me, a good teacher is an inspiring, discipline and understanding at the same time, and supportive teacher. While academically, he or she must be smart and mastering the material he/she teaches. Not necessarily funny, but must be able to engage the students so the materials can be well delivered.  Re-thinking about my teacher so far, I have some in mind when the words "favourite teacher" appear. One was my English tutor, Mam Ratna, and the other ones were my lecturers in Undergraduate Program. Mam Ratna was a killer. Her voice, her eye contact, her expression, was like a thunder.
